  • [es-pree de less-ka/-iay] (idiom) A witty remark that occurs to you too late, literally on the way down the stairs. The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations defines esprit de l'escalier as, "An untranslatable phrase, the meaning of which is that one only thinks on one's way downstairs of the smart retort one might have made in the drawing room."

Get ready to spend the next 3 weeks in a butter coma!!! Oh, but what a way to go! :)

I am happy to announce that I will be available to help Snag Jr. with the consumption portion of the judging.

Now is when I most long for my long-gone youth. In high school, I baked cookies more than I watched TV or movies. I spent more hours baking cookies than minutes studying. Baked more than I hung out with evil companions, and more than I listened to music. I baked more cookies than I could have possibly acquired boyfriends (and I was sort of going for the record in that non-varsity sport.)

But now? My finger's broken; I'm battling daily migraines. And the last two pies I made resulted in bad burns on my arms and tasted like...like runny fiascoes.

Maybe someday I'll grown young again. Meanwhile, I love reading the cookie sagas.
